  6. This file provides information for Shareware Distributors, Disk Vendors and
  7. Computer Clubs who wish to distribute the "Katy's ABC's" package.
  8.  
  9. Individual and Company Users:  Please refer to LICENSE.TXT for 
  10. information.

  12. For sample descriptions which you may use to describe the product please
  13. refer to the DESCRIBE.TXT text file.

  17.                          Distribution Requirements

  20. Individuals who wish to distribute the Katy's ABC's package to friends
  21. or associates may do so in accordance with the restrictions
  22. outlined in LICENSE.TXT.
  23.  
  24. Computer Clubs and User Groups wishing to add the Katy's ABC's 
  25. package to their disk library may do so in accordance with the
  26. Distribution Restrictions listed below.
  27.  
  28.    If you would like your Computer Club or User Group to be placed on our
  29.    mailing list for future upgrades to any of our products, please contact
  30.    us for complete details.  Our address, phone number, and America Online 
  31.    ID number is listed in DESCRIBE.TXT.

  33. Limited Distribution License:

  36. As the exclusive copyright holder for Katy's ABC's, Maxwell's Smart
  37. authorizes distribution only in accordance with the following restrictions.
  38.  
  39. ASP Approved Vendors in good standing are hereby given permission to
  40. distribute Katy's ABC's package.  Non-ASP member vendors must
  41. request permission prior to distributing this package.
  42.  
  43. The Katy's ABC's package is defined as containing all the
  44. material listed in the PACKING.LST text file.  If any files listed in the
  45. PACKING.LST text file, or the PACKING.LST file itself, are missing, then the
  46. package is not complete and distribution is forbidden.  Please contact us to
  47. obtain a complete package suitable for distribution.

  49. The Katy's ABC's package - including all related program
  50. files and documentation files - CANNOT be modified in any way and must be
  51. distributed as a complete package, without exception.  The PACKING.LST text
  52. file contains a list of all files that are part of the Katy's ABC's package.
  53.  
  54.    Small additions to the package, such as the introductory or installation
  55.    batch files used by many shareware disk vendors, are acceptable.
  56.  
  57. No price or other compensation may be charged for the Aplhabet package.
  58. A distribution fee may be charged for the cost of the diskette, shipping and 
  59. handling, as long as the total (per disk) does not exceed US$8.00 in the U.S. 
  60. and Canada, or US$8.00 internationally. The user must be made aware that 
  61. he is purchasing a SHAREWARE program.

  63. Disk Sets & CD-ROMs:

  65. The Katy's ABC's package CANNOT be sold as part of some other
  66. inclusive package.  Nor can it be included in any commercial software
  67. packaging offer, without a written agreement from Maxwell's Smart.

  69.    ASP Approved Vendors who wish to distribute the Katy's ABC's package 
  70.    as part of a collection (such as PsL's MegaDisk set, or a CD-ROM 
  71.    package) may do so provided that all the other restrictions are met.

  73.    Vendors (non-ASP Vendor Members) who wish to distribute the Katy's ABC's
  74.    package as part of a collection (such as PsL's MegaDisk set, or a 
  75.    CD-ROM package) must obtain permission from Maxwell's Smart
  76.    prior to beginning such a distribution.

  78.    If you wish to add any of our programs to a CD-ROM or other collection,
  79.    please check the release date of the version you have.  If the version is
  80.    over twelve (12) months old then please contact us to ensure that you
  81.    have the most current version.  This version was released in May 1993.

  83. Disk-of-the-Month (or Subscription) Distribution:

  85. If you would like to distribute the Katy's ABC's package as a
  86. Disk-of-the-Month, or as part of a subscription or monthly service, then
  87. the following restrictions apply:

  89.    ASP Associate (Disk Vendor) Members in good standing are hereby given
  90.    permission to distribute the Katy's ABC's package under
  91.    the Disk-of-the-Month style of distribution.
  92.  
  93.    Others (non-ASP Members) must contact us in advance to ensure that you
  94.    have the most current version of the software.
  95.  
  96.    You cannot use a Disk-of-the-Month distribution to use up your inventory
  97.    of old (out of date) disks.  Only current versions may be shipped as
  98.    Disk-of-the-Month disks.
  99.  
  100. The PRINTED User's Guide may not be reproduced in whole or in part, using
  101. any means, without the written permission of Maxwell's Smart.  In other
  102. words, the disk-based documentation may not be distributed in PRINTED
  103. (hardcopy) form.
  104.  
  105. The Katy's ABC's package cannot be "rented" or "leased" to others.
  106.  
  107. You may not list any of our products in advertisements, catalogs, or other
  108. literature which describes our products as "FREE SOFTWARE".  Shareware is
  109. "Try-Before-You-Buy" software, it is not free.
  110.  
  111. Maxwell's Smart prohibits the distribution of outdated versions of the
  112. Katy's ABC's package, without written permission from Maxwell's Smart. 
  113. If the version you have is over twelve (12) months old, please contact us 
  114. to ensure that you have the most current version. 
  115.  
  116. Licensee shall not use, copy, rent, lease, sell, modify, decompile,
  117. disassemble, otherwise reverse engineer, or transfer the licensed program
  118. except as provided in this agreement.  Any such unauthorized use shall
  119. result in immediate and automatic termination of this license.
  120.  
  121. U.S. Government Information:  Use, duplication, or disclosure by the U.S.
  122. Government of the computer software and documentation in this package shall
  123. be subject to the restricted rights applicable to commercial computer
  124. software as set forth in subdivision (b)(3)(ii) of the Rights in Technical
  125. Data and Computer Software clause at 252.227-7013 (DFARS 52.227-7013).  The
  126. Contractor/manufacturer is Maxwell's Smart Computer Service.

  128. All rights not expressly granted here are reserved to Maxwell's Smart.
